Liturgical Ministries

Altar Servers
The role of Altar Server is a privileged ministry opens to both boys and girls. Individuals who are in fourth grade or older, have celebrated their First Communion and regularly participate at Mass are welcome.

Altar Linen Guild
This ministry is responsible for maintaining and cleaning the Church, sacred vessels and laundering the linens used during Liturgy, cleaning is normally scheduled for 9:00 am Saturday morning and when needed for special occasions.

Greeters
These ministers are called upon to provide a very special service of hospitality. They are the first people that visitors or parishioners meet when they come to Sacred Heart for Mass. We show our great hospitality by welcoming them with a Christian love.

Lectors
The role of lector is to proclaim the word of God at parish liturgies. Lectors need to demonstrate the ability to read aloud well with a good public speaking voice and to read the word of God with respect, and an understanding of scripture. This ministry requires a commitment to continued enhancement of proclamation skills and bible literacy.

Music Ministries
Our Adult choir sings at the 9:00 am Mass on Sunday, Holy Days of Obligation and some special occasions. Practice time is 6:00 pm on Thursday and rehearsal at 8:30 am Sunday before mass. New members are always welcomed.

Our Spanish choir sings at the 11:30 Mass on Sunday, Holy Days of Obligation and some special occasions. Contact Father for rehearsal times and new members are always welcomed.

Ushers
They are responsible for assisting with seating, taking up the collection, directing the Eucharistic procession during the Mass, distribution of parish bulletins and other materials after Mass, and straightening of hymnals and Mass booklets after each Mass.


Social Ministries

Bake Sale
Fundraiser - On the last weekend of the month everyone is asked to bring and donate one of their famous food dishes. Not just bake goods, everything is welcome and when you leave buy one of these great dishes. Volunteers are needed to help organize, set up and sell the food.

Kermez
Fundraiser - Our Spanish community serves lunch after the 11:30 am Sunday Spanish Mass. Come join us for lunch and support the great activity. New volunteers are always welcome to join this ministry.

Food Sale
Fundraiser- We will be providing and selling dinner on the second weekend on the month. Why go home and cook when you can take home or eat here great food prepared for you. Volunteers needed to sell tickets, cook and service.

Funeral
This ministry provides food for the family and their friends the day of the funeral. These volunteers coordinate and facilitate the luncheons. Parish members are ask to support these luncheons by providing a covered dish and by helping serve.

Ministers to the Homebound
Experienced Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers, these volunteers share Jesus Christ in the Eucharistic with those members of our community unable to join us here at Sacred Heart due to health issues. In addition to visiting individuals, these ministers also visit the area nursing homes.

Parish Socials
This committee organizes and prepares the food for the many parish social events. This is a great way to meet and get to know the whole parish. Many events are scheduled each year so watch the calendar. Volunteers are need for the planning and many more for the day of the event.

Teens Program
Open to all teens. Sacred Heart's Youth Group includes a full range of social, spiritual and service programs. The Group meets the second Sunday of the month at 12:30 pm. Give us the opportunity to get to know you and for you to get to know other teens who are part of your Sacred Heart family.

Religious Education
Classes are held after the 9:00 am Mass. They start at 10:15 am and last an hour. The religious education that our children receive is very important to prepare them for the sacraments and life. Teacher and assistances are always needed. Please consider this great ministry of sharing your faith.

Sunday Socials
The opportunity to share a few moments of fellowship on Sunday morning after the 9:00 am Mass with other parish members is always enhanced with food, and what better than sharing food with your fellow parishioners. New volunteers are always welcome to join this ministry.


Social Groups

Knights of Columbus
The Knights are Catholic gentlemen who seek to fulfill the central mission of the organization: striving to do charitable works, serving the Church and its teachings; supporting brother Knights in their temporal and spiritual needs; acting for the good of their country, and giving aid to widows, orphans, the sick and the poor.

Over 50 Group
An informal group of Parishioners age 50 and over. Meet on the third Friday of each month, start with Mass and then share a meal. There may be a visiting speaker, or demonstrator, or a spiritual program. Their goal is to have a goodtime, learn things, and go places with people who share a love of God.
